This session will address the challenges and opportunities inherent in one of the most crucial decisions an LGBT leader can make: deciding to run for office. Professionals from the Gay & Lesbian Leadership Institute will instruct attendees on the eight steps to a successful run for office, including selecting the right race, assessing your chances, and going public with your campaign. Using real examples from the field, we’ll include simple and basic steps to organizing a winning run for office.

In addition to educating attendees on running for office, this workshop will feature the most contemporary statistics on races and trends affecting GLBT candidates. We will have didactic materials, polling data and other handouts to share with attendees.
